Adam Henry
“The core of my investigations is a fascination with perception and cognition in our system-oriented society. The work revolves around a process of splicing together various modes of visual representation such as atmospheric perspective, diagrams, signage, and optics. As I reconfigure these basic visual structures I put my faith in an imaginative restructuring where decisions become expressions, and expressions new forms. Through this process of image making I believe it is possible to explore realities that logic cannot reach”.

Henry’s work is often informed by the systems of visual and oral languages, evident in his use of recurring geometries, optical color play, and impossible circular references. Working with predetermined parameters - such as limiting his color palette to red, yellow, blue and violet in response to Goethe's Theory of Colors - Henry explores the physical experience of painting and the subjectivity of visual perception.

Adam Henry (°1974, USA) holds a MFA from the Yale School of Art. He has had solo exhibitions at River Valley Arts Collective, the Ice House, the University of Wisconsin-Stout, 247365 and Candice Madey (USA) and with Meessen De Clercq (Belgium).
